What's a Good Gun Belt Size?

Ask anybody who carries a pistol, and they'll likely agree that finding the right gun belt can be challenging. After all, no two people are the same size or even have the same body type. Combine that with other variables—such as personal preference, type of pistol being carried, the holster style, and the holster placement on the body —and it's easy to see why shopping for a gun belt can involve a little trial and error.

The good news? Knowing how to properly measure yourself will help you choose your next gun belt with confidence. Likewise, no matter your measurements, a premium EDC belt by Nexbelt can help you achieve a flexible yet comfortable fit without compromising durability.

The Importance of EDC Belt Size

Whether you plan to carry your pistol occasionally or are looking for a belt for everyday carry, choosing a belt that fits well is vital. For starters, a belt that is too loose will be prone to sagging or movement around your waist throughout the day. Not only will this be uncomfortable, but it could hinder your ability to quickly retrieve your pistol when you need it. Conversely, a belt that fits too tightly may be uncomfortable to the point it cuts off circulation, causes back pain and or pinches a nerve.

When your gun belt is properly sized, you'll feel good wearing it in any setting and for any length of time. Likewise, you'll enjoy the confidence and peace of mind that is critical when carrying a pistol; no need to worry that your firearm will shift around as you move due to an improper fit.

How to Measure an EDC Belt Size

Now that you have a better understanding of why it's so important to wear a properly fitting gun belt, it's time to go over the basics of how to measure your belt size. There are several factors and variables to keep in mind when measuring for an EDC belt, however. This includes the size of the pistol you'll be carrying, as well as your preferred method of carry.

Generally, the most accurate way to measure your gun belt size is to begin with your pants size, add four inches to it then cut on the marked line. For instance, if your pants size is 34 and you add the suggested four inches; you will cut the strap on the 38-size marking. This will give you enough length for inside the waistband and outside the waistband carry. At this point try on your strap with your chosen equipment and if you have too much strap length then you can always trim it down inch by inch. But once you cut the material off you can never add it back on. Therefore, we suggest starting with a longer length and trimming down the excess as needed.

So, the good news is that with Nexbelt EDC belts, you can easily adjust your belt to fit you perfectly after it arrives. Our premium EDC belts fit up to a 50" waist and do not have pre-measured sizes that never seem to fit, this allows you to get the precise and comfortable fit you need every time.

When your belt arrives, simply turn the belt to the backside and use our scaling system to find your pant size. Then, add the four inches previously mentioned and cut along the dotted line using a good pair of scissors. It’s as easy as that, plus with our small increments of adjustment you will always have the perfect fit every time you wear your new Nexbelt.

Benefits of a Great-Fitting Gun Belt

Having a properly fitting Gun belt can be the difference between carrying with confidence and deciding to leave your pistol at home. When you have a belt that fits you perfectly, you can holster up and carry anywhere you go. Whether you're looking for an everyday carry belt or a belt that blends in nicely with formal events, a perfect fitting EDC belt can make all the difference.

What Makes a Good Holster Belt?

In addition to finding a belt that will offer a secure fit every time, there are some other considerations to keep in mind when choosing an EDC belt. First, don't overlook materials for style. Ideally, you'll want to find a belt that's made of a high-density material (such as advanced nylon or leather); this way, you can rest assured that it will hold up to everyday wear and tear.

Likewise, you'll want to look for a belt with the proper dimensions to work with the pants and holster you wear most often. This means considering not just your waist measurement, but the belt's thickness and strap width as well.

Look for a belt that offers additional features, such as a sweat-resistant backing and stainless-steel set screws that won't easily break. At the end of the day, these are the details that will make the biggest difference.

Finally, choose a belt that is appropriate for the style of clothing and environment you will be in. Nothing is worse than standing out as a person who is wearing a tactical belt in formal attire or a formal setting. So, choose wisely, and keep the element of surprise on your side.
